Early in my wildlife photographic experience was a visit to the rehabilitation center with three bald eagles that were injured.

One flew into a power line, one was hit by a car and one was shot. The outcome was the same - as all three birds had an amputation of one wing.

I feel that pictures taken in the wild rule above all other as they are closest to the real experience but this was special.

These masters of the air will never fly again but they remind visitors of our responsibility to these birds.
