The Rare Pair

The Rare Pair

The Whooping Crane pair came to The Prairie around the end of November of 2008. She first appeared last spring and remained until June.

Her return with an eight year old male raised expectations of youngsters on the trail.

The Whooping Crane is one of the most endangered birds in North America. They have returned from only 25 individuals to more than 530 Cranes between the wild and those in captivity.

January 30th, 2009 marked the confirmation of at least one juvenile Whooper on the LaChua Trail
